The best way how to get from Seoul to Incheon Airport

Getting to the big international airport with a lot of luggage can be a stressful experience. Not in Seoul. In Seoul, you can do your check-in right in the city center. It makes it such a pleasant experience that I don’t understand why it’s not more widespread in other major cities around the world.

How it works:

As a regular airport check-in. You can check-in your luggage and have your seat assigned but at least 3 hours before your departure.

They will send your luggage to the Incheon Airport for you, so you can enjoy a few more hours in Seoul and then travel empty handed. Amazingly convenient.

And you have two options.

Seoul Station City Airport Terminal:

If you are north of the river, you can go to Seoul Station and use the Seoul Station City Airport Terminal. It will save you some time to hang around the new Seoullo 7017 Skygarden, Gwanghwamun, Namdaemun, or do some last minute shopping at Myeong-dong.

You can do check-in only for these three carriers.
Korean Air
Asiana Airlines
Jeju Air

How to get to Incheon Airport:
The best option is to take the AREX train.

CALT (City Airport, Logis & Travel, Korea):

If you are south of the river, you can go to the Samseong Station (Seoul Subway Line 2), Exit 5 or 6. At CALT you can do check-in for many more Airlines then at Seoul Station.

Because you saved some time, I recommend visiting the Hyundai department store which is the building next to the CALT. Food court there is just glorious!

How to get to Incheon Airport:
The easiest option is to take the Airport Limousine Bus.
Alternatively, you can choose the cheaper but less convenient option and take the subway to Seoul Station and AREX from there.
